In the small Scottish town of Lochgilphead, a nine year auld lassie contemplated her school lunch and had an idea. She would start a blog about the gustatory offerings of her local school.
On Tuesday, May 8, 2012, Martha Payne uploaded the first post on her blog Neverseconds and the world changed.
The NY Times had a short piece Girl 9, Gives School Lunch Failing Grade. But, it's much more complicated.
Her blog has gone viral. As of the time of this post, there have been 6,203,620 hits to Neverseconds, and it's increasing by many hits per second.
Martha, do you say the Bobbie Burns grace before lunch?
“Some hae meat and canna eat,
And some wad eat that want it,
But we hae meat and we can eat,
And sae the Lord be thankit.”
Burns wad have approved of Neversceconds, especially on days when haggis is served.
